Event review - Gran Premi de Catalunya 2024

Like you need an excuse to visit lovely Barcelona?! Possibly the best city on the MotoGP circuit, this is one to come to early or stay a few days after.

Friday night we had an opening dinner with our favourite Spanish MotoGP journalist, Manuel Pecino - now in his 36th year on the case! His insights were spellbinding as usual, with a special focus on Spanish riders -- many of whom (Marc Marquez, Maverick Vinales) he has known since they were small children!

Saturday was another perfect day at a very comfortable 25 degrees. The thrilling sprint race saw a sensational victory by Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia. Our man Marc Marquez showed again he was a contender with a 2nd place.

It was a free evening Saturday - a great opportunity to enjoy Barcelona! Several team guests stayed in the paddock to soak up the evening atmosphere and brilliant dinner at Gresini Ducati.

More great weather on Sunday saw exciting racing in all classes. David Alonso took the Moto3 - already looking good for the championship! Japanese rider Ogura easily took the Moto2. MotoGP re-inforced our belief that this is a two horse race between Bagnaia and Martin with Marc Marquez - 3rd on the podium -- still in with a longshot chance.

We concluded a perfect race weekend in classic style -- a proper Barcelona tapas tour! Yummy!
