Event review - Gran Premio d’Italia 2024

Mugello is back!! Always the baddest, craziest MotoGP of the year, following COVID and of course the retiral of their superhero Valentino Rossi massively dented the crowds at Mugello. But in 2024 we saw the crowds return - almost back to pre-COVID levels!

As always, it all starts over drinks for our Thursday happy hour. Our Deluxe customers enjoyed a classic 'room with a view' overlooking the Arno in top style.

Friday we headed to the track, it is a bit of a journey there, about 1 hour traffic willing. A perfect Italian day as the entire weekend will be...

In the evening we had a superb Italian dinner; complimented by our special guests: - Red Bull Rookies Kristian Daniel (USA) and Carter Thompson (AUS) with guest journalist Manuel Pecino.

The Sprint gave us a joyful podium by Marc Marquez - who has cemented his comeback and may yet be a title contender. Francesco Bagnaia won, showing us why he is the defending world champion.

Saturday was a free evening with guests able to enjoy being in one of the greatest cities in the world - Florence!

Sunday the trip to the track was not as bad as expected -- we leave quite early to avoid the worst of the rush! Pecco cemented his leadership with another victory, with his teammate Enea Bastianini taking 2nd and the main title challenger Jorge Martin finishing off an all-Ducati podium.

We don't leave the circuit right away - the most notorious traffic in all MotoGP. Instead we hang out a a lovely cafe outside the circuit for beer, wine and sunshine for a couple of hours, then make our way back along the spectacular route home

We close Mugello as we have done for the past 15 or so years at a proper Italian Florentine steak house on the outskirts of Florence. This is not a place for tourists - meaning the demanding locals get served the very top quality meats, veg and wine! As always we had a cracking closing dinner, a perfect way to round out an Italian weekend!
